Milestone Anniversary

The boys and I traveled to Oklahoma this past weekend to celebrate my grandparents 65th wedding anniversary. Yes, I DID type "65th" correctly. I know this is unheard of in this day and age but they have done it! It was a wonderful celebration of their life together and I am so thankful that we could share it with them.

This is my mom's parents, Salty and Lee Garrett. The two of them are very precious to me. Even though they have lived in Oklahoma all of my life, they have been very involved in my life. My brother and I used to go spend a week or two with them every summer, almost always during the NBA playoffs where my brother would cheer for Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics, and I for "THE" Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers!!! As we got older we even took some of our friends with us when we visited. We still get together at their house EVERY Christmas with the ENTIRE family for a wonderful time of eating, opening gifts and fellowship. They are truly wonderful grandparents and my brother and I are very blessed to have them.

Toward the end of last year, my Mema (this is what we call my grandmother) suffered a stroke. To the glory of God, she has recovered wonderfully. She suffered no problems with her memory or speech. She is currently walking on a walker but hopes to retire that soon. She is amazing and has been such an inspiration through all of this. My Papa (a.k.a. grandfather) has been equally amazing in his care of her. My Papa, bless his heart, was the kind of man that would sit in his lazy chair and bark orders to my Mema like, "Wilma Lee, I need some more coffee (holding his cup out for her to come get)." My Mema would be sitting RIGHT NEXT TO HIM on the couch! He has taken over the shopping, laundry, cooking, cleaning and care for her and has never batted an eye about it. He is the picture of unconditional love. He even still manages to get his golf games in. He is 83 (I think) and still shoots in the high 70's!

Some of my most precious memories involve my Papa and Mema and I thank God for the love they have shown our family over the last 65 years.

Here are some pics of the milestone anniversary celebration.

Happy Birthday!

Three years ago today we were blessed to welcome Samuel Bryan Beaver into our lives and into this world. He was born at 1:52pm at Covenant Medical Center Lakeside in THE Lubbock, Texas. He was a healthy 8 lb., 21 in. long baby boy and today he is still a healthy 37 lb., 37 in., not so "baby" boy! He is pure sweetness and such a joy to have in our lives. I just simply cannot believe that three years have gone by SO fast! When Isaiah was born I remember being totally overwhelmed with taking care of him and always wondering when he would reach those certain milestones that I could check off in his baby book. But, with Samuel I find myself wondering where the time has gone? Oh, I still keep log of things in his baby book but instead of wondering and waiting I'm writing things down and thinking to myself, "What? Already he's doing these things? STOP, SLOW DOWN!" He adores his big brother (well, most of the time) and wants to do EVERYTHING he does. He has grown into quite the little man and we are all so very thankful for him. Thank you God for precious children and for entrusting them to us to raise! AMEN!

Easter Loot from Papa & Nana

My parents (a.k.a Papa & Nana) send boxes full of goodies to the boys for almost every holiday of the year! The boys look SO forward to getting their box, they can hardly wait for the UPS truck to deliever it! So, Papa told the boys on Monday night that he had mailed their box and we should get it on Wednesday. Isaiah had a T-ball game Wednesday night so we were hoping it would be on our doorstep when we got home and THERE IT WAS!!! Isaiah beat Sam and I to the door and we heard him screaming with joy before we even finished getting out of the car! They got plastic sport eggs filled with bubble gum, candy, coloring books, crayons, games, 2 DVD's (Max & Ruby and Horton Hears a Who) and new clothes to wear on Easter Sunday to church!

Here are some pics of the grand box opening!!!

Now these next 3 are FUNNY. I was trying to get a pic of the boys WITH all they stuff they received.

Here's Isaiah looking, but not Sam!

Here's BOTH of them looking (a bit scared might I add) because Mommy took away the dang bunny jelly beans so they would PAY ATTENTION!!! HA-HA-HA!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Papa & Nana!

We will miss you on Easter Sunday but will look forward to seeing you the following weekend to celebrate Sam's 3rd b-day!!!
