We've Moved

On Monday, July 18, our family moved from Katy, Texas back home to Lubbock, Texas. The move was somewhat uneventful and we all made it safely. I say "somewhat uneventful" because Lexi spiked a fever of 102 the night before we were to head out! She had fever the entire 9.5 hours it took for us to FINALLY get to Lubbock. While I hated that she had fever, it did help to subdue her and she made the trip VERY well. Luckily, the fever was just a little more than a 24 hour annoyance and she has been fine ever since. Lexi, Samuel and myself traveled together in our Tahoe and Bryan and Isaiah rode in the huge moving truck. We (the girls and Sam) left our Katy house right at 8am, while Bryan and Isaiah had some last minute packing of the truck to do and didn't leave town until 9:30am. I was not looking forward to traveling with a 5 year-old and an 18 month-old by myself, so I wanted to leave as soon as possible! Both Sam and Lexi made the trip so well! As I said before, the trip took us 9.5 hours due to food, potty and diaper changing stops, but it seemed to go by quickly (thank you, Jesus)! We arrived at Papa's & Nana's house at 5:30pm and were welcomed by Papa, Nana, Uncle Rob and cousin "Big" Zach. Bryan and Isaiah arrived at 7:30pm and then all the boys (minus Isaiah and Sam) went to unload the moving truck into storage. Bryan said my dad told him after unloading the truck into the storage unit, "Seriously? You did not have this much stuff when we moved y'all to Houston!" Bryan said, "You're right but we have lived there almost 4 years and we also added another human to our family while we were there!"

So, fast forward to today and we are finally settled in at Papa's & Nana's house. It is very tough going from a 4-bedroom, bi-level home to a 3-bedroom, one level home with 2 extra adults!!! We are making it work though. We will be here for a few months and then begin looking for a place of our own. For those of you who do not know, Bryan will be working with his Dad in furniture sales, as well as working on a new ministry opportunity that began while we were still in Houston. This has been and will continue to be a big adjustment for our family but we are very glad to be back close to family and friends. We are looking forward to getting plugged into a local church and the boys are very excited about their new school and making new friends. We miss our friends in H-town but are already planning a visit back! Moving is never easy and this time was no different. However, we are reminded of the Lord's promise..."For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." And, we cling to this promise! We are excited for our new future and glad to be back home in Lubbock, Texas!
