Wonderful Week...

As a stay-at-home mom, I LOVE when my weeks are busy with things. Not to say that I don't stay busy most of the time but I mean, there is only so many times you can clean a house right?

On Monday the boys and I went into town a bit to watch our cousin's little girls. Cora is 2 and Amalie is 6 months old. I must say I had been looking forward to watching them ever since Becca (mommy) asked me to. I love my boys as you all know but GIRLS - YEA!!! We had such a fun time. Cora and Sam are not far apart in age so they play well together, except Sam kept calling Cora, "Becca." He finally had it straight before we left that evening. Isaiah was the "big" kid and they wanted to do whatever he did. I enjoyed cuddling with Amalie and LOVE to see her smile!!! We stayed over for dinner that night and then headed back out to our place. We LOVE having family living here in H-town with us!!!

Tuesday was Bryan's and my anniversary; 8 years! We had lunch together while the boys were in school and then I went to do some Christmas shopping. I LOVE this time of year. I admit I am one of those "crazy" people who LOVE the crowds shopping and trying to find that "perfect" gift for those on my list. I love walking in and out of stores hearing the holiday music playing over the speakers. I truly is "the most wonderful time of the year." That afternoon before I picked up the boys from school I wrapped a few presents to put under our tree. There is a present for Isaiah and a present for Sam and a few others. Isaiah walks in the door, his mouth drops open, and he says, "Is one of those mine?" I told him one of those was his and showed him witch one. He said, "Can I open it - PLEASE?" I said of course not and told him he had to wait until Christmas Day (which at this point was still 14 days away). His smile immediately turned to anger. He folded his arms across his chest and stomped up the stairs loudly (just to emphasize how angry he really was) and didn't come down for a good 20 minutes. I shouted up to him that if that was how he was going to act then I would just take the presents back to the store. No response from Isaiah but must've got Sam's attention because later as I was changing his diaper and he pleaded with me, "Mommy, pwease don't take my pwesents back to da store!" I assured him I would not.

Wednesday was a beautiful, wintry day here in Houston. It actually snowed lightly here at our house!!! Some areas east of the city got 3 and 4 inches of snow that night!!! Wish that had been us! Anyway, the boys and I met some friends at one of our favorite malls to play and have lunch. This particular friend lived in Houston when we first moved here but moved to Austin a few months ago. Her daughter, Emma Claire, is in love with Isaiah so it was too cute to see them walking through the mall hand-in-hand. Isaiah loves the attention!!!

Thursday, I had the privilege of attending a Bible Study taught by Beth Moore. Beth is one of the most gifted speakers I've ever heard. Her insight and the way she presents scripture are truly one-of-a-kind. She spoke about "Preparing for an Advent in Your Life." The scripture reference was Luke 1, speaking about Zechariah and Elizabeth and them not having been blessed with a child - YET. She was talking about prayer and reminding us that God does hear our prayers. She said the moment you pray the answer is given; the revelation may not be given but your prayer has been heard and the answer set in motion. As in Zechariah's and Elizabeth's case, the wait was wrapped up in a bigger work - John and what he was created to do. I was reminded that God's timing is perfect and the wait is always worth it! Waiting is not one of my best qualities. I'm so thankful that I'm not in control and that God is!!!

Friday's are always wonderful because this is Daddy's day off and we get him ALL day! We didn't do much but being together is enough.
That brings us to today and it will be a fun one. Isaiah gets to go to his first jiu-jitsu tournament at Daddy's gym. Sam is going to stay with a neighbor friend. This is a "Friendship Tournament" to raise money for one of the gym's members who has health issues and is in need of financial help. Yes, Daddy is competing in this tournament and we are excited to see that!

Next week promises to be busy as well with school programs and parties. Also, grandpa and grandma are coming to town for Christmas; we are very excited about that!!!
