Happy Halloween

Halloween 2009 was a success in the Beaver household. Isaiah and Sam were both Batman however, they are both quick to tell you that Isaiah was the Dark Night Batman and Sam was the "Regular" Batman. They were NOT the same! If you are reading this then you've already seen them in their costumes in the ginormous photo at the beginning of our blog. Aren't they adorable???

My parents were able to come into town for the weekend. We love SO much when Papa and Nana come to visit! We HATE SO MUCH when they have to leave (as they did this morning). When they leave I am left with two unhappy little guys who say several times throughout the days following Papa's and Nana's departure, "Mommy, I really, really miss Nana and Papa!" I always, always have to fight back the tears (sometimes not so successfully).
While Papa and Nana were here, they got to see Isaiah play a flag football game. Let me just say, Isaiah did not disappoint! Some of you will think I'm just a proud Mommy (and I am) but Isaiah REALLY is good at football. He is amazing at throwing and catching. He has a mean spiral and is simply not afraid of the ball. So, this particular game his coaches decided to let the boys try a passing play. Isaiah was the quarterback and he knew who he was to throw it to. There was some confusion on the play as the opposing team thought Isaiah had handed it off to another little guy (because this is what they ALWAYS do). After a few seconds, Isaiah was told to continue the play. The little guy he was SUPPOSED to pass it to was no longer open so Isaiah looked down the field, found an open receiver, threw a perfect pass and the little guy caught it and ran it in for a TOUCHDOWN!!! It was AWESOME!!! Papa was beaming with pride and shouting, "That's my grandson, the quarterback!!!" We had so much fun!!! Isaiah had been looking forward to Papa seeing him play football for over 3 weeks now and he did him proud! He also made a beautiful, long run and scored a touchdown of his own. He is REALLY loving football. What's next...basketball!!!

After the game we went home to rest up for the Halloween festivities. After dinner, we got the boys dressed up and went to an area church for their Fall Festival. It was not unlike most Fall Festivals we've been to in the past and it was VERY well organized. One of the neatest things they had was what they called, "Trick or Treat Alley." We waited in a line that lead us outside to a row of "faux" walls with real doors. The kids could walk to each door, knock, and the door would open and they would say, "Trick or Treat!" The person on the other side of the door (volunteers from the church) were dressed up and would then hand out the candy to the kiddos. It was like they were really going "door to door." We then played a few of the games, got some more candy and then headed home. I let the boys partake in a "few" pieces of candy but they did not go overboard! We'll have candy for quite some time, I'm sure!

Seeing as how half of this post is about football, I CAN'T leave one more thing out...

We were sitting around the table this afternoon having lunch, while watching the Dallas Cowboys game on tv. Isaiah (like his Daddy) LOVES the Cowboys so he was watching the game very closely. The Cowboys had the ball and ran a play. Isaiah said, "Hey Dad, they just ran a flea flicker." Bryan said, "You're absolutely right, Isaiah." I asked what a "flea flicker" was and it was explained to me. Bryan said last week he and Isaiah were watching football and Bryan said to Isaiah, "That was a flea flicker (referring to a play one of the team's had just run)." Isaiah asked what that was and Bryan rewound the play and showed him. So, Isaiah recognized this "flea flicker" play when the Cowboys ran it today! I was amazed. A few minutes later Bryan asked Isaiah what another play was called that the Cowboys had just run? Without missing a beat Isaiah said, "play action." He was correct!!! I love my little sports fanatic!!!

Hope you all had a safe and Happy Halloween too!!!
